This project focuses on the optimization of the stress level & weight management of a control arm under high-G bumping by using multi-body dynamics simulation and AI algorithm. To reduce high stress on the control arm without significantly increasing its weight, thickness must be added to specific areas to improve bending stiffness.
AI algorithm is used in this project to optimize eight design variables: the widths of six ribs and the upper/lower heights of the shock absorber mount. The objective is to minimize peak stress during high-speed bumping and limit its weight gain.
